Cafe de Blas: A Cup Beyond The Rest

I've been hearing good reviews on how nice the ambiance and the food of Cafe de Blas is, and at the same time bad reviews that their food are a bit price-y. Well that led me to be really intrigued on what this shop is up about. 'Twas my first time here accompanied with my loves, Mollyn and Keziah.
But please bear with me 'cause I was not ready on blogging about Cafe de Blas--for this food trip was also just a biglaan. So mejo kulang kulang 'tong post ko. Well actually I took this shots for my Instagram feed only, but I really wanted to put a glow on my blog again so I decided to make post about the coffee shop.

You can never go wrong with the garden friendly type of this coffee shop. It never gets old. Definitely loving the ambiance of it.

Seating in a spot like this brick and wood arched garden gate feels like you're in an English garden even though it's just a wallpaper. Way too relaxing.

Not only is this shop reminding us on how beautiful the old-fashion style is, but also gave me a thumbs up on how well they mixed up putting up modern style like this DIY-ed lighting, light bulb in a mason jar.

Being a coffee lover, this is the first thing my eyes laid on when we entered Cafe de Blas. Loving the Coffee-O-Logy wallpaper!

Due to our hungriness (hungry as a bear), I forgot to take a picture of the menu. Sorry, my bad. But hey, you can't blame me for being just a human. A human who's hungry af. Hehe. Anyways, these are what we ordered. Forgive me for also forgetting the prices of what we ordered. Talk about being old and famished. Chos! Oh just bear with me guys. Haha.

First off, coffee-s. Yaaas. All for the love of coffee-s. Here's what we ordered. Mine is an Iced Caramel Macchiato, while Keziah and Mollyn's are frappucinos (Forgot what kind of frapp it is).

The drinks were okay. Much better than the ETC drinks. Sorry guys but still a Starbucks lover here.

And for our food, quoting aside a funny line, "There is no 'WE' in 'FOOD'." Cue-ing Ariana Grande's song, 'Greedy'. LOL.

Mollyn's (Yes, diet sya!):

The salad was good, but the serving is bad. Very nakaka-bitin.

Keziah's (She's really into burgers, 'ya know):

The burger was superb. The patty was juicy and big. So yes, kudos to this.

And mine's... (Who's strictly on a serious diet):

Definitely giving the pasta a thumbs up with pinky finger!

Not. Who says I'm on a diet? Hahaha. Here's what I really ordered:

Loving the atsara and buro aside, I think?

I know, I know. Carbs on carbs on carbs. Whatever! As long as me and my tummy is happy, nothing can stop us from loving food even reading and hearing the word carbs is making me feel guilty. Haha.
All in all, the food was delish but not satisfying enough to provide what a regular tummy needed to be fed on. Plus the price is really not proportioned to the serving size of their food. Peace! The coffee is also a thumbs up, but almost as same amount with the Starbucks drinks which is a price-y too. My friends and I did enjoy our stay here, though Mollyn got bitin with her salad. Imagine me on her shoes pa, right? Hahaha.

Hmmm. Yes I'll absolutely be back here. I have yet still to try their pastries. Ugh, sorry I wasn't able to take a picture of that too. But looking at their pastries, it's an eye catching. So for my next trip here, I'll certainly order that one up.

Gan Chan: Authentic Japanese Cuisine

Okay. So for my second post here this year, yaaaas congrats Ghe, 3 more months to go before 2017. Way to go Ghe! I'll be sharing you guys my experience here in Ganchan with a close friend of mine--Mollyn. Month ago, Mollyn and I had lunch here due to our sudden craving for Jap food. And since we've already tried it (my first time was when our friend Keziah celebrated her birthday here, just this year too)--and obviously liked it for coming back again, Mollyn and I unhesistant-ly decided to have lunch here (just what I've said in the 4th sentence).

Lately, I've been having a strong appetite for sashimi. Mainly the raw salmon and tuna--which, by the way, was my least favorite in japanese food. This craving started when I tasted the Spicy Tuna Sashimi of Nihonbashitei. Ugh. Just thinking of it makes me drool all over it right now. Okay, back to Ganchan.

So here's Ganchan's front view. Beside it on the left side is the Shakey's, and on the right side hmmm. I forgot what it is. Haha.

As you enter the restaurant, the Gundam portraits hanging all the way to the second floor (excluding the anythingundertheg.blogspot.com wording from the stairs) will greet you Irasshaimase! Which in Japanese means, "Welcome, please come in!" Oh, and the staffs secondly.

Beside the stairway to heaven, char! Is their main bar/cashier bar and a dining table to hop and chow on to.

As you can see in their second room, there's the kitchen beside the restroom.

Here's the list of their menu.

And here's what we've ordered. Mollyn and I ordered the same, which is the Bento C (Beef Yakiniku + Fish Fry) for 220.00.

I additionally ordered a Shoyu Ramen, which I forgot how much. I wasn't able to take a picture of the page where the price of the Ramen is. Hehe.

The main reason why we came here is for the salmon sashimi, which sadly, is not available when we dine in here. Sad life. Lesson: You really can't have everything that you want. Wow, hinugutan pa yun oh. Hahaha.

Alright. To wrap it up, the food is great; but so-so for the ramen. Didn't quite liked it. :( The fish fry (salmon fillet) is really yum, and so is the beef yakiniku--really juicy. But the serving size of the bento are too small for me. Well I think this also goes to every normal human being din naman. Hehe. And since this was my second time coming here, I'll definitely would be back again. But I hope, their serving size would really increase na. Hustisya para sa aking tiyan! Hahaha.

By the way, there's also another japanese restaurant here in Malolos. I have yet to try Itadakimasu Kampai Grill right before Ganchan if heading from Robinson's Malolos.

Hapag Events Place and Restaurant

After the opening of our Sportsfest, the Team Bang and I (Karen's not around tho), had our lunch at Hapag. It's at the back of Malolos Capitol, beside Hiyas ng Bulacan Compound. I was the one this time who suggested this restaurant to my friends.

When we reached there, it was not that crowded yet although it was already lunch time.

Here's some pictures of the inside of Hapag restaurant..

There's also a small lounge music area where I think, every night they play mellow/acoustic songs to make the diners' night more chilling and romantic for lovers.

And this is what we ordered...

Lemonade Tower: ₱148.00

Mozzarella Sticks for our Appetizer: ₱198.00

Grilled Rose Mary Chicken Breast for Mollyn: ₱138.00

Baby Back Ribs for Keziah and Sharmaine: ₱248.00

Grilled Salmon for me: ₱238.00

And Hapag Rice, for we're all rice lovers: ₱178.00 (good for 3-4 person)

I was so disappointed with their service. Like I said earlier, this isn't my first time to eat here so I was really saddened by the way their service this time was appalling. Really awful. The waiter who assisted us wasn't that congenial. When I asked him if they have a mint jelly for the sauce of the lamb chops, he gave me a sullen glance! As if!! But I didn't mind him na lang because I was hungry already and I don't want to get BV (Bad vibes). Then when we ordered a lemonade pitcher, he keeps on insisting us to try the Cucumber flavored lemonade instead. But we still ordered the lemonade pa din. Fast forward.. When they served the lemonade na, we were wondering why the lemonade tasted weird, and we noticed that it tasted like a cucumber. Right at that moment, I remember that the waiter keeps on urging us to try the cucumber lemonade. And so we requested them to change the pitcher they served to us because that wasn't our order. Then when he already changed it, humirit pa ang mokong ng "Ayan na po, pinalitan na ng Lemonade yan." Like, hello? Weren't you taught to be polite to the customers? Even though we're just a college students, you shouldn't treat us differently with the other elder customers. He didn't changed our glass pa which made me more irritable. Plus, their service charge is way too unworthy. Imagine, the service charge is 10% of our total bill and we're being treated like we're not going to pay for our orders. Mister, you gotta be kidding me. Ughhh. Okay too much rant. Hahaha.

And so me and my friends took a selfie na lang instead. We weren't able to ask the crews to take a picture of us because they're busy chatting with each other. Nakakahiya naman istorbohin sila.  LOL.

From the left: Mollyn, Sharmaine, Keziah and Me

All in all, the food was great; ambiance is, too. But the service... a big NO. I hope when their Manager or the owner of that restaurant gets to read this blog, they should instruct or train more of their crews on how to serve the customers properly; may it be youths, elders, students and etc. I also read too many bad review about Hapag too in the net and I really do hope they'll improve the way they manage the restaurant.

You guys may think I sound a bit woolly, and indeed it is. But I just can't fight my annoyance over this matter. They made my bitch mode: ON. Hahahaha.

And oh, here's our last picture that (finally!! someone took our picture!) at first, one of their server doesn't want to take our picture pa yata. It's like she's thinking pa if she's gonna take it or not. Weird set of waiter/waitresses talaga. Hayy. I hope when I get back to dine in here again, napalitan na silang lahat. Chos.

Till our next food trip!

Kabisera ๑۩๑

Last Wednesday, me, my college friends (Team Bang) and our classmate Crisha, had our lunch at Kabisera Resto Grill. Actually, it's our first time to eat here except for Mollyn and Crisha. My friend Mollyn suggested this restaurant last semester pa, and now that it's our first week in class for this year, we decided to gave it a shot.

The moment I entered Kabisera, I was astonished when I saw that vintage-y Menu counter that contains lists of their available entree to order--written in the blackboard. Unlike the other restaurants where you'll be handed a small booklet menu, here, you'll gaze upon the menu in their small bar and order directly. You can also hear the relaxing songs of Sitti. Bossa Nova music feels!

Kabisera is derived from a Spanish word "Cabecera", which means Capital City.

An open doorway to the table where we had our lunch.

I'm obsessively in love with antiqued and passé stuffs. And if you guys also do, then you'll definitely love the ambiance of this restaurant.

You'll find different kinds of tables and chair settings that are really fusty and dowdy which reminds me of the historic ancestral houses here in the Philippines.

With an open breeze type of restaurant, it would also be a perfect place for lovers to have their date here!

Their ancient style of open bar.. How cool, right?

Even their bygone era powder room won't be left out on the theme of this restaurant!

And the amazing part is when I saw this outmoded preserved door which they turned into a table. So vintage-yyy.

Here's our group picture!
On the left side: Keziah, Sharmaine, Crisha ;; On the right side: Mollyn, Karen and Me

What we ordered for lunch...
ItemKabisera Rice; ₱150.00 (good for 5 persons)
My friends and I loved it! Will definitely order this again the next time we go back here.

Item  Sizzling Pusit; ₱180.00
The sauce was good but inadequate quantity of squid...

Item  Binagoongan; ₱165.00
Didn't like it that much because it's too fatty..

Item  Lechon Kawali; ₱170.00
Good luck sa batok namin! Hahaha! Didn't mind to eat the fat on the top because it was too crispy to feel the fat inside my mouth. Yum! And that's the kind of lechon kawali I want.

Item Krispy Sisig; ₱185.00
One of the best sisig I've ever tasted!

My friend Keziah took this breathtaking pictures while we're nagpapatagtag ng kinain.

Perfect for photo shoot location!

Caught in the act selfie session.. Hahaha!

I can say that it was a satisfying experience. The ambiance ☑; the Food ☑; the Price is absolutely a ☑ and the service ☑! Surely, I'll go back here with my family and my friends again. I just really enjoyed the ambiance there. It seems like I'm somehow in between Vigan and Tagaytay feels. To think it's just here in Malolos. Woo! Malolos pride! (Even though I'm a Pulileña. Hihi.) Plus, the food here is super kaduper affordable talaga! Actually, we expected that we're gonna spend ₱200+/individual; but much to our surprise, we just spent ₱140/head! So what are you waiting for? Come and try Kabisera! I heard it's much cozy to dine-in in the evening here.

Tago tago ng bundat na tyan! Hahaha!
