Me Ke Aloha, Johnny Kahuku’s Hawaiian Shrimp House!

Makou kaulana o koʻu kaikuwahine,Ghelleny, ka lā hānau maʻaneʻi ma Johnny Kahuku’s Hawaiian Shrimp House’s Hawaiian Shrimp House. Translation: We celebrated my sister's birthday, Ghelleny, here at Johnny Kahuku’s Hawaiian Shrimp House. Thank you Google translation for that. Hahaha.

After our family attended the church service in CCF here in Eastwood, we watched a movie first then decided where to have dinner for Ghelleny's birthday celebration. She's now 15, yay! Our first plan was in Sambokojin, but my sister wasn't able to bring her ID so no free buffet for the birthday celebrant. Aw. So my Mom suggested we find another restaurant instead. We were torn between the Red Crab and Johnny Kahuku, 'cause they're just beside each other and at the same time both a seafood restaurant. And since Johnny Kahuku is under the mother company of the Red Crab Group of Restaurants, and fresh from our sight--really gives a Hawaiian vibe, we decided to gave it a shot.

I wasn't able to take a picture of the place. :( So let me just describe it to you. Hehe. The moment we entered the restaurant, you could really feel the Hawaiian vibe. Interiors were remarkably vibrant and lively, which gives a cheerful and inviting mood; very tropic indeed. I love the way their wall decors with a very big "Aloha" and "Surf Zone" were done with Hawaiian tribal designs! They also have this big Tiki mask logo facing outside the restaurant which I think saying "Aloha!"

BTW, they got piles of menu--which is good and bad. Good 'cause you have a lot of food to choose from, and bad 'cause you can't order and digest it all. Huhu.

For starters, we had the Tropical Tuna Salad, ₱390.00
Mixed Micro Greens topped with Seared Ahi Tuna, Watermelon, Edamame, fruits in Season, and drizzled with Sesame Miso dressing
The salad was real neat. Loved the crispyness of the greens together with the dressing!

And since I am craving for sashimi during this time, I requested the parentals to order me this Salmon Poke, ₱365.00
Fresh Salmon Sashimi topped with fresh seaweeds, roasted pineapple, lemons and drizzled with ginger Shoyu dressing
All mine! Bwahaha. I really did enjoyed this but I think it was a bit over priced for the serving. But the taste was a killer! So I'll still order this when I go back here.

And for our main course, we had this yummerz Singaporean Chili Crab (3pcs-300grams), ₱1099.00
Slow Cooked Crab, with garlic and sweet chili sauce; and two fried bao aside
The sweet chili sauce is. the. BOMB. You could really taste the sweet sauce of it being kicked off with spicyness--which terrifically blended well. Really did love the baos as well!

On the other hand, we also got the Garlic Overload (3pcs-300grams), ₱1099.00
Deep fried Crabs, with bits of golden garlic, chillies, salted black beans, and garlic egg noodles below the crabs; topped with garlic egg noodles
Being a garlic lover, I can say that this is my favorite out of all we ordered. Even though it's fried, the crab's fat oozing out of its shell is the real MVP here!  The way the crabs were fried, ughh so delish!

Also tried the Combination BBQ Platter 2, ₱989.00
Beef short ribs (grilled and fried), Shrimp Kahuku, Mochiko Chicken, with Hawaiian rice, and Macaroni salad
Wasn't able to appreciate well this platter 'cause my main focus during this time is on the crabs. Haha. But nevertheless, the ribs were quite chewable naman, the shrimps were great (hello, garlic lover me), the chicken is a must try--for it's very tasty, the rice is okay, and the macaroni salad is really tasty too. We weren't able to order na din a dessert 'cause we really are full na. But we did get to taste their Kahuku Dirty Chocolate Brownie, a free treat from them because of Ghelleny's birthday. I must say, their brownies were to die for! Alongside with a vanilla ice cream, ugh mouthwatering.

So overall, our dining experience here is a stomach buster--in a satisfying way. Happy tummy, indeed. It's like we ate in a buffet restaurant too. We really had a pleasant and worthy birthday celebration feast here. The staffs were very accommodating and friendly. The ambiance is very relaxing and at the same time like being transported in a while to Hawaii.

Recommending you all to try Johnny Kahuku’s Hawaiian Shrimp House as well for I will absolutely be back here to try more of their dishes!

And for those wondering what Me Ke Aloha means, it's "With love".

Fish & Co.: Seafood in a Pan!

After attending church at CCF Malolos yesterday, my family and I had our lunch at Fish & Co. I've been here several times and I can say that this is one my favorite seafood restaurant next to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. So yesterday, we celebrated my "sister like" friend, Karmela's post-birthday. The last time we saw each other was like last summer pa, so I really really missed her badly!

Ever since Bubba Gump vacated TriNoma, I was really heartbroken back then because I really love Bubba. I remember I was on my 2nd or 3rd year high school at that time. But when we came to know Fish & Co., we usually eat here na whenever we crave for American type seafood restaurant.

Even the interior of the restaurant will make you feel like you're inside the sea world. Charot. Krusty Krab Restaurant lang?! =))

And if ever you're waiting for a friend or a family member or a "lover", you'll definitely won't get bore for there are two cabled LCD TV that you can watch on. Don't be shy to request them to change the channel! And while we're waiting for Karmela and his brother Tantan, we were watching the news about Pope Francis' having the opening mass at UST while munching on some Spinach and Artichoke Formaggio.

So when Karmela and Tantan arrived, we already ordered and this is what we chow down..

For starters: Spinach and Artichoke Formaggio; ₱475.00 (We ordered this from Italianni's)
Yes, this isn't included on Fish & Co.'s menu. My Mom ordered this from Italianni's, just beside the Fish & Co. I love how creamy the formaggio dip melts in my mouth!

Crispy Crablets; ₱295.00
If you'll search for the menu on the net, you won't see this in the lists because this is one of their newest appetizer.

For our Main Course we had the Ultimate Fish-Mates Bundle:
1. Best Fish & Chips in Town with Grilled Chicken Peri-Peri Platter; ₱995.00
The Chicken Peri-Peri was really good especially when you dip it into the chili sauce with tartar sauce. Plus, you'll be really full with the 10 pieces of the best Fish and Chips in Town. With matching seafood rice in the middle.

2. Best Fish & Chips in Town with Crispy Pata; ₱995.00
We also tried this one because of the Crispy Pata. The Crispy Pata was also good but not that much. I still prefer the Crispy Pata of Barrio Fiesta. And again, paired up with the best Fish and Chips in Town.

and as for me, I had the Just For Me Baked Salmon; ₱545.00
The reason I had my solo order is because I'm starting my diet na, "DIE-yet". But really, I just love Salmon. I won't replace anything with this. Just Tuna and Salmon for me! I love how the citrus-y herb flavor of it lingers on my mouth. Plus, it's 80% baked to done-ness!

 A family picture of us.
From the left: Rhev, Tantan, Karmela, Ghelly, Me, my Mom and Gheanna

Karmela got surprised when the crews started singing a Happy Birthday song for her and handed her a Hot Fudge Choco Cake..

Yeheyyyyy! Happy Birthday again my dearest Karmela! Looking forward to your next sleepover in our house! :)

So far, I really enjoyed again our food trip here. I have definitely been hooked on to this restaurant... Forever. Chos. I certainly want you guys to try this uber yum restaurant. You'll absolutely love their food here, especially to the seafood lovers out there like me. The ambiance is check, the service crews were very friendly and approachable so double check, and their food was excellent so triple check. Feel free to comment below and share me your food trip experiences too! 'Til our next food trip!

Lezzgerirown, 2015!

Hiiiiiiii. This should be my first post here in my new blog which is Anything Under The G.. But because we stayed up late and woke up in the afternoon of January 1, I wasn't able to blog about it. Then my laziness prevailed... But I didn't let that stop me from blogging. Because for this year, I am challenging my self to finish what I have started. Chos. But I really do wish I can. Haha. So now, I'd like to share you all how we welcomed 2015.

Me, my Mom, Ate Oli (Mom's friend who really cooks well) and our helpers prepared the food that we're going to eat for the New Year's Eve. Actually this is the first time that I helped making the food because usually I'm just surfing the net or watching the TV while my Mom and our helpers are busy doing the kitchen stuffs for occasions like this. Well now I can say that I've fully grown up. Chos again.

Fast forward.. Right in the middle of cooking some of the dishes, my back pain strikes and my feet aches due to I keep on going in and out our house to get the ingredients needed for the food. Ugh. Disadvantage of big people like me. Haha. So I took a nap for awhile.. Then when I got some energy, I made my version of Shrimp Scampi Pasta which is my Mom's request because she's getting sick with the taste of spaghetti na daw.

Here are some of the pictures of the food that we've prepared for the New Year's Eve..

Korean Beef Bulgogi
Annyeongggg

Beef Caldereta
Anything with beef is fine with me!

Arroz Valenciana
This one's a Paella-type..

Chicken Asado
Also one of my favorite because of the chicken!

Mom's own recipe of Garlic Shrimp with Orange Juice
This is my siblings and I's all-time favorite dish.

My own version of Shrimp Scampi Pasta
If you wanna try to make one, just comment below and I'll make a blog on how to cook this.

Kakanin (Rice Cakes)
Actually, this was just a gift from my Mom's friend. It's a home made pichi-pichi from Ate Raquel. And that suman beside it is from our Grandmother & Grandfather.

We also made a Fruit Salad and Buko-Lychee Salad but sorry I wasn't able to take a picture of it..

And the traditional New Year's Eve fruit

Right when the clock ticks to 12mn...
My Mom and our kasambahays

Gheanna blowing her torotot

And of course... Family picture!

And our favorite part.... Chibugan time!
After our buffet session, my Mom decided to let us play Bingo to make our night more fun. And! It comes with a prize! Whoever wins in a round gets to receive a money as a prize.
Sorry for the messy table.. It's our pang tantos. Haha.

The funny thing is, even Rhev's friends joined the game as well because they also want to win the prize rather than drinking. Hahaha. So after we finished playing Bingo, we played the Beer Pong naman. But I wasn't able to take a picture of it because we were busy playing it na. And my team lose din naman. Haha. Losers.

By the way, this is me and my college friend, Mollyn. She visited me around 2am, I think? We were the one who started the Beer Pong game.

I can say that this New Year celebration has been one of the happiest New Year's Eve we have ever had. Plus, this is the first time a friend of mine visited me in our house right at the time of New Year's Eve. My high school friends which is in Manila kasi haven't been to our house pa because Bulacan is far from there. But I hope one day they can. N'Aww. I miss them so baddd!

I hope this 2015, life for me and my family would be better unlike our life last 2014. I'm excited to what will happen to us this year! I promised my self that I'll be more responsible as a daughter to my mom, Elder sister to my siblings, and a diligent student. I have no idea and I don't know what kind of challenges God will give me this year but I know He'll never leave me like He did to me and my family last year. I'm ready to face any trials that God will put me into because I know He's just molding me to become a better princess of Him. So lezzgerirown, 2015!
Cheers!
